Earlier this week, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) approved a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking on Network Neutrality policies that would preserve the open Internet on all wired and wireless networks. While the battle is far from over, this was a positive step forward for grassroots groups, who partnered with the Media and Democracy Coalition to collect signatures in support of network neutrality from 40 grassroots groups from across the country, who represent communities of color, low-income communities, and other historically marginalized communities.

For $39.99 customers of Walgreens, Amazon, Target and other retailers can buy an “illegal alien” costume. The costume is made up of an orange prison-style jumpsuit with the words “illegal alien” written across the chest and even has a mask of a space invader and a green card. The only difference between selling this racist, anti-immigrant costume and the hate speech on Fox News is millions of dollars in profit to be made. Oh wait…that’s not that different. Support the United Farmworkers with a letter to retailers now!

Questioning people about their citizenship status will not only intimidate undocumented people but also scare off anyone worried about the privacy of their information. We need your help to stop this insidious effort as it will discourage millions of people from participating in the Census and cost our communities billions in revenue.

For years, Lou Dobbs has used his platform on CNN to spread myths and misinformation about Latinos and immigrants, even as his network tries to woo Latino viewers. Dobbs is helping fuel the rising tide of hatred and extremism against Latinos in this country. It’s time we said enough (that’s “basta” in Spanish).
