The Malcolm X Grassroots Movement (MXGM) is an organization of Afrikans in America/New Afrikans whose mission is to defend the human rights of our people and promote self-determination in our community.  Established in 1995, MXGM is a multi-generational network of racial justice and human rights activists and organizers working in more than a dozen cities. Their principles of unity include self-determination and organizing in Black communities. MXGM maintains an extensive network of affiliates and allied organizations.

As a Communities Creating Healthy Environments grantee and healthy hood champion, MXGM Jackson aims to conduct a detailed scan of the Jackson food and recreation environment, create model tax and financing incentives to facilitate the expansion of healthy food outlets, strengthen collaboration with local farmers and increase outlets for local produce, increase public revenues for recreation and green space, and develop model school site food and recreation policies.

Read more about their work, and check them out on Facebook.  Support Healthy Hood champions that are doing important work in local communities across the country.
