Save Internet Radio!
Date Posted: June 25, 2007
If we don’t act now, Internet Radio will go silent on July 15, 2007. Responding to pressure from major record labels, the Copyright Royalty Board (CRB) ruled to increase royalty rated effective July 15 (retroactive to January 1, 2006). If increased rates remain unchanged, fees paid by internet radio companies to play the music you enjoy will drastically increase and the majority of webcasters will go bankrupt. Internet radio will be silenced.
Act now to save Internet Radio! The Internet Radio Equality Act has recently been introduced in both the House (H.R. 2060) and Senate (S. 1353) to save the Internet radio industry. The Act provides reasonable royalties to artists and their labels and protects the rich variety of music online.
Please call your senators and your representatives to ask them to co-sponsor the Internet Radio Equality Act. For more information, talking points and contact information of your rep, please click on the link below to go to SaveNetRadio.org
