Workshops and Trainings
That’s why Karlos Schmieder and a host of our experienced trainers developed the media planning skills of over 100 Kellogg Foundation grantees in a training focused on immigrant rights in Albuquerque, New Mexico in October 2010.
Our spokesperson training is another favorite. At the 2010 Community Justice Network for Youth national gathering, CMJ trainers developed the spokesperson skills of a dozen youth advocates working to end racial disparities in the juvenile justice system. The skills built in our multimedia, participatory workshop led to a dynamic press event in which young people called for Congress to make real policy changes to end the overincarceration of youth of color.
Accessible, interactive curriculum for emerging and veteran organizers—coupled with online workshops to continue the learning process, and hands-on technical assistance—makes CMJ’s communication training program different from the rest.
